A dedicated master of vocal music with an important output of choral music and lieder, composer György Orbán likes to draw on the musical traditions of the past, creatively using elements of folk music, film music, jazz and contemporary music. His often archaic texts show the author's special affinity for the thought and cultural diversity of older ages. In the settings of the first chapter of our volume, he paraphrases the musical and text material of the Codex Kájoni, one of the most important musical and linguistic sources of Hungarian music history. The second chapter contains arrangements of the author's favorite folk songs, well-known tunes that nevertheless come from the "periphery of Hungarian folk songs" (as the author puts it): a so-called urban folk song, the a well-known love ditty of medieval origins, the typical string accompaniment of folk song transformed into a vocal part...
