“As in the previous cycles, the Seven Piano Pieces were written more along the lines of diary-like musical notes. While composing, I thought of friends near and far, whom I wanted to present with an imaginary salon as a token of my love and respect. Not a stage, not a spotlight: a salon. I think that these pieces 'feel at home' in the peaceful, friendly, 'challenge-free', refined and harmonious environment of a slowly fading world – in a salon, for example. Social music. I still have many, many much-loved friends. Perhaps they will take their turn...” (György Selmeczi)
