The composer gives special importance to church music, his work list includes no less than ten masses, numerous Latin hymns and antiphons, chamber cantatas based on Hungarian religious folk texts. "...I am committed to making churches qualify as homes for music", can be quoted as his musical-professional confession. The design and structure of Selmeczi's sacred compositions clearly shows the priority of practical performability of the works, since the goal is usually that even amateurs can sing them, perhaps not just once. At the same time, it is clear that the author moves with perfect comfort in the world of liturgy and historical ecclesiastical genres, he skillfully applies when he wants, the traditional elements of sacred genres. At the same time, the dignity and ethos suggested by the liturgical frame is often combined with the author's characteristic playfulness.

The three Latin Pentecost hymns were composed to the request of the brass quintet In Medias Brass.

Veni Spiritus Consolator (Franus Kancionál, 11th c.)
Veni Sancte Spiritus (King Robert II, 11th c.)
