Mass No. 5 for mixed choir and organ (piano)

I.Kyrie
II.Gloria
III.Sanctus – Benedictus
IV.Agnus Dei

No less than ten Masses, numerous Latin hymns and antiphons, Hungarian religious texts and canticles set to music for solo voices and choir, accompanied by various instrumental ensembles or just the organ... It is clear, that sacred music is of real importance in György Selmeczis’s œuvre. Considering that much of the composer's career has been fulfilled in an unfavorable social context for the sacred music, this cannot be regarded as standard, it is a mission: '...I am committed: churches should be recognised as homes for music', he said in an interview. The composer's fifth Mass, with an organ accompaniment often doubling the choral parts, is a short missa brevis without Credo section. The work is dedicated to Katalin Kiss, conductor of Ars Nova Vocal Ensemble, the difficulty of the parts is more demanding, worthy to a choir with great experience in the performance of contemporary music.
